Gazette 1/5/1913 - Obituary - His Excellency the Governor announces with deep regret the death of Mr R.W. Humphery, District Commissioner Nairobi which took place on the morning of April 28th at the European Hospital. Mr Humphery joined the Protectorate Administration in April 1900 and was promoted to be a District Commissioner in 1903. He was  an exceedingly capable energetic and efficient officer, widely popular with all sections of the community and his loss not only to the service but to a very wide circle of personal friends will be most severely felt.
