1920 • Kenya. Served as Captain, Special List, Kings African Rifles, stationed at Ruiru. Later served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Ethiopia where he died in 1941. Took up residence at Uncle Major Walter Kirton's Kahuguny coffee plantation while continuing with his military career. Died of cerebro-spinal meningitis whilst serving with British forces defending Ethiopia against attacks by German and Italian forces. Buried at Addis Ababa War Cemetery, Grave 2 A 8. Inscription on the stone: A LONGER LIFE COULD NOT HAVE HAD A NOBLER END.
