Gazette - 1-5-1900 - The death on the 29th ult at Nairobi of Mr Edward Lloyd, Assistant Collector and District Officer in the East Africa Protectorate is announced with much regret. The deceased Officer possessed talents of a very high order and in him the Government loses an accomplished linguist, a sound and careful magistrate and an able administrator. His career which has been so prematurely cut short promised to have been most brilliant and successful and his place will be very difficult to fill.
