Playne - At the request of Mr W.H. Tiller, the proprietor, edited and managed the 'Nairobi News' for a few months in 1905 until its demise.
Playne - The 'Times of East Africa' - ' ...... in February 1907, Mr D.S. Garvie was appointed manager and continued to act in that capacity until June of the same year, when the company sold the plant to Messrs D.S. Garvie, G.W. Cearn, and R.B. Taylor. The name of the paper was then changed to the 'Advertiser of East Africa', with Mr Garvie as manager and editor. Many alterations were made in the business policy of the new company. ......... In June of 1908 the 'Advertiser' Company was dissolved, and Mr D.S. Garvie, buying out his partners, continued to run the business on the same lines, with Mr MacLellan Wilson, who had been engaged in the preceding month of May, as editor.

Kiambu Scrapbook - St. Paul's Church Kiambu - After the war, the organ (which was played for many years by Miss Nan McLellan Wilson) got into a shocking state, rats eating holes in the bellows.
Kiambu Scrapbook - Outstanding among the early pioneers was Mr W. Maclellan Wilson (senior), an ex-missionary turned planter, who had settled on the Riara River certainly before 1904, but …… had not planted any coffee by then - presumably he planted very soon afterwards. He was a firm supporter of the Coffee Planters' Association founded in 1909, and we find him proposing its reorganization as the Coffee Planters' Union in 1917. He became Vice-President of the Union in 1920 and was to do valuable work for this body for very many years. His farm later passed to his son and was sold comparatively recently, on the latter's death.
