Les Hayes - Louise Ellen Shemain/Schumyn married Samuel Ardagh Smith who was employed by Uganda/Kenya railways for some 33 years. He was born in India and interspersed his career with Uganda/Kenya railways with a couple of short return stints in India. He also went back to the UK at one stage before returning to Kenya. He first came to Kenya in 1911 and died in Kisumu in 1960. His marriage to Louise Ellen resulted in 4 children, three of whom were born in India, including my wife's mother, who was born in Mombasa, but Louise Ellen and Samuel Ardagh separated at some stage
