General Information:

KFA - Mr W.S. Bastard, helped by his two sons Seager and Willie, was another of the pre-war vintage who started by trading hides for Masai or Somali animals and building up herds and flocks of native beasts.  ........ W.S. Bastard took his whole year's wool clip down to Thika in a wagon and returned with a year's supply of groceries.  
Foster - He joined the Royal Navy and was on the "Britannia" in the same term as Vice-Admiral Sir F.C. Doveton-Sturdee, KCB, CVO, CMG the victor of the Battle of Falkland Islands in Dec. 1914. Bastard's sons were born in S. Africa and it was from there that the family came to Kenya in 1913. Old Bastard had a great black beard and still in his seventies worked from dawn to dusk. His grandson, Young Seager, was born in Kenya in 1925 and still farms Sweet Waters. .......... bought a new Cadillac for £1400 in 1922.
