He served for several years in India before he was posted for service with the Uganda Rifles, taking part in operations in Uganda and Somaliland in 1898-99 (medal). He was briefly posted for duty with the 2nd Dragoon Guards in July 1900 before being posted for duty with the Ashanti Field Force ……….
