Cuckoo - 1904 - Foran rode a white Arab stallion owned by G.A. Stanley the Assistant Traffic Manager of the Railway, in the Machakos Cup. Later this Arab became the property of Sir Donald Stewart, and won a number of races before dying of the prevalent horse sickness.

Gazette 7/3/1917 - Obituary - His Excellency the Governor deeply regrets to announce the death on 28/2/1917 of Mr G A Stanley, Traffic Manager, Uganda Railway, as the result of pneumonia. Mr Stanley joined the Traffic Dept. on 23/5/1901 and rose to be its head in April 1912. He was a most sincere, conscientious and energetic officer and in his dealings with the general public always displayed great tact and consideration. From the commencement of the war until he went on leave in October last his duties had been increasingly responsible and arduous and he spared no effort in discharging them with loyalty and efficiency. In private life he was genuinely popular and his loss will be deplored by a wide circle of friends. The greatest sympathy will be felt by all for his widow in her bereavement.
