1922 (c.) Son John is born to Lt. Col. E. Hutchison and Mrs. Frances Hutchison of Nairobi, Kenya (CWGC website). Date extrapolated from him being 18 years old when he died.

1934 (29th Dec)  Electoral Roll -Ernest Hutchison (auctioneer) & Frances Barrow Hutchison (married woman), both of P.O. Box 140, Marlborough Estate, Nbi. are recorded for Electoral Area No. 1 (Nairobi North) (Gazette, 29th Dec 1934, p. 8).
1941 (13th Feb) His son John Hutchison is killed in Greece after bombing Berat, having flown out of Parmythia. He was the pilot in a Mk. IV Blenheim and was shot down in flames by an Italian G.50 fighter. All the crew baled out, but only Sergt. Whiles survived. The other crew member was Sergt. O. Traherne (The Bristol Blenheim -A Complete History, pp. 439). His body was never recovered and he memorial is on the Alamein Memorial in Egypt for servicemen who have no known grave (CWGC website).
1945 (7th Feb) In Proclamation No. 6, under the Schedule for East Coast Fever listing various LR. Nos. as being ‘infected areas’, L.R. No. 5851/11 of E. Hutchison Esq., of Limuru, Kiambu District was included (Gazette, 13th Feb 1945, p. 51).
1947 (3rd Nov)   In general Notice No. 1915, regarding the by-election in Ward 3, Limuru on the Nairobi District Council. A call was made for nominations, with forms being available from the Council office in Victoria Street, Nairobi. This was to replace Lt. Col. E. Hutchison who had resigned (Gazette, 4th Nov 1947, p. 601)
1959 (20th Feb)  Died in Nairobi 1959 Nairobi. Buried in Limuru Cemetery in Row 16, Lot F. His gravestone reads: “Ernest Hutchison / 20.2.1959 / he that overcometh / shall inherit all things / and I will be his God / and he shall be my son / Rev. 21:7
