General Information:

Clare Matthews: George Frederick Gordon [known as Jock], born 29th June 1906 in Aberdeen, died 19th September 1978 in Dorset.   He was with The Standard Bank of South Africa, as it then was, starting in Lindi in Tanganyika in 1928, and over the next 35 years moving to Tanga [Tanzania], Mombasa, Nyeri, Kagamega, Rumeruti, Mwanza [c. 1937] [Tanzania], Nyeri [c. 1942], Mombasa [1946], Nanyuki [1948], Eldoret [1950] and Nakuru [1952].  [I am not sure if the sequence is totally correct re the period of his first stint in Nyeri, Kagamega and Rumuruti.  He was usually in a location for approximately two-three years, although ended up in Nakuru for over 10 years.  The years mentioned are the approximate year of his move.]
