www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/GQN2-9XD Clara may have received her first name from her maternal aunt, Clara Johanna Mattheys née Brink, her first middle-name from her maternal aunt, Martha Entress née Brink, and her second middle-name from her paternal aunt, Sophie Hayes née Dryden. Clara's second middle name, Sophia, is found only on her baptism record (Source: Ancestry24.co.za); all other records, including her Death Notice, give her name as Clara Martha Dryden. According to Clara's Estate Papers, she lived at Lansdowne Road, Claremont. The East Africa Memorial, Nairobi War Cemetery, lists Clara's nationality as "United Kingdom" and that she served with the "East African Military Nursing Service". http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2540244 Edited by Carol Minshall née Hampshire, from a conversation between her and her mother, Henrietta Lavina Hampshire née Greyling (May 2008): "mom was there when she was packing up to leave. Mom never imagined it would be the last time she'd ever see her. Mom was about 14 or 15 at the time (tho' she's not too sure of this) She remembered her gran commenting that "Clara should have been a man". I gather she wasn't too happy about her daughter going off." = Clara Martha Sophia Dryden is mentioned in an unknown capacity in a 1927 edition of "The Journal of Mental Science", possibly as part of a list of medical graduates.
