Oliver Hawksley via Ancestry - 1891 Census in the workhouse as a hairdressing apprentice aged 17. By 1899 he seems to have arrived in Durban to enlist in Bethune's Mounted Infantry during the Boer Wars. In 1903 he marries Margaret Matilda in Sea Point, Western Cape, SA. In 1907 he is listed in Cape Town as an accountant.
