Ujiji - William F.A.H. Russell, a former Royal Navy officer, served as lay superintendent of the CMS mission at Freretown, near Mombasa, from 1876 to 1878.
Ujiji - 8 Dec 1877 Zanzibar - Capt. Russel, of the Mombasa (CMS) mission arrived from 'Highland Lassie' suffering from sunburnt feet etc. and from the recent death of his wife.
