Mervyn Maciel: A very efficient stenographer, more of a secretary'PA to his boss. He worked in both the Secretariat and Governor's Conference Secretariat in Nairobi. The pity is that my Dad was on the upper deck with the little babe when the first torpedo was fired at around midnight. He rushed down quickly to wake my step-mother and the young children only to find that the second torpedo had been fired which then brought the ship down. We got this information from Dad.'s Cabin boy who was one of the survivors.
