General Information:

A Tank instructor at end of WW1, Engineer, worked with McNeil's Sugar Machinery, designed small sugar factory and was sent to erect this for Nottidge & Allen, Muhoroni. He was asked to stay on as Chief Engineer. Ethel was a model and Chief Buyer for a big store in Cheltenham. Her first husband - Henry Couchman, was killed in France 1914. Quote from Mrs C.M.G. Wilson - "My parents were also involved in the Gold Rush of the 30's, we helped a group to send a young man out, we had an old T Model Ford and that was put in order and picks and shovels and tinned food etc. We loved that old car - known as 'The Mudlark' (my father was one of very few settlers to own a car in the mid 20's). I do not think much came of the efforts!
