DSO - London Gazette, 22 June 1918 - For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. His battalion was continuously in action for 4 days during an enemy advance, and was successful in repulsing all the enemy's attacks. On two occasions his promptness and skill in organizing and leading counter-attacks resulted in the line being restored. His courageous example and cheerful bearing under most difficult conditions not only maintained but increased the fighting spirit of his men.
