Markham - 1926 - Beryl Markham training 'Wise Child' owned by Eric Gooch, which had broken down in the 1925 Derby. Trials began on Bertie F. Webb's course at Molo. Someone told Gladys [?] Gooch her husband was having an affair with Beryl. Gladys got Gooch to take 'Wise Child' away from Beryl 3 days before the St. Leger - the horse went to Sonny Bumpus and won the St. Leger at a canter. Beryl never forgave Gladys Gooch - Gladys never forgave her.
