Name: NEVINSON, William (Commander RNR)

Birth Date: 1879

First Date: 1906

Profession: Hospitable farmers near Kiambu

Children: Captain Nevinson (late of the Worcestershire Regt.)

Book Reference: Cuckoo, Hut

General Information:

Cuckoo - Commander Nevinson retired from the P & O service and, after first settling in Eastbourne, decided to carve out a new home and career in BEA. His son resigned from the Army and joined him in the new enterprise. Their farm was a model of all that a good pioneer's estate should be, well organised and developed, and the native labour supremely contented. Foran never received a single complaint from them about their native employees or from the latter about the Nevinsons. The elder Nevinson managed the farm as if still commanding a P & O liner.
