Obituary - The death took place early last Friday morning in a Nairobi nursing home of Samuel Morrell, who recently retired from the Civil Service for health reasons. Death was due to disease of the heart. Mr Morrell, who was 48 years of age and leaves a widow and son, was born in Sunderland, England. He came to Kenya in 1923 to join the firm of M.S. Elliott and Co. as accountant. In 1924 he entered the Agricultural Department.
Mr Morrell served with the Seaforth Highlanders throughout the last War and was wounded no fewer than nine times. He was married in 1924 at Mombasa to Miss Jessie Patterson. Of a quiet and pleasant disposition, always cheerful and with never a hard word for anybody, Mr Morrell bore his last and long illness with the fortitude which one would have expected of him. A wide circle of friends and old colleagues will mourn his passing. The funeral, conducted by the Rev. Canon Lesser, took place at the Forest Road cemetery
