I came out with my maternal grandmother, a very much travelled lady having been back and forth to and from India since she was four years old in 1861. ..... We arrived at Kilindini on 23rd January 1921 where we were met by my father. ...... We arrived at Nairobi about mid-day. An agent collected all our luggage, we went to Muthaiga Country Club where father had left his T Model Ford boxbody. ..... Our luggage was eventually collected by Robin Forbes who ran oxen transport, 16 span teams of first class oxen. ............ at the farm welcomed by Mother and Father's partner, Col. [Henry Marion] Durand, he was a distant cousin. ....Mother went to England in 1924 and did not return as she preferred life in England. Father and I went in 1926. He also did not return and sold "Laburra" - (article by Kate Challis)

Web - Irish Wolfhound History - The Bournestream Kennels - "Mrs Beynon mentions having had her first Irish wolfhound in 1897 when she was in India. …Letter from Mrs Beynon "In the Tatler of April 18, 1923, I saw you were needing photos of dogs of members of the LKA. I am enclosing one which may interest the readers of The Tatler. Your 'Notes' always interest us so much and are one of the chief reasons we have been subscribers to The Tatler for many years. Three and a half years ago we came out to Kenia with two of my Irish wolfhounds, and they have done so well, also their puppies, two of which I am sending in the snapshot done of them by Sir Northrup MacMillan. One, Bournstream Buller of Kenia, is the most wonderful hound of his age I have seen anywhere, and I hope to take him and some of his brothers to England next year, when I hope he will do well at the shows.. At present he enjoys life here, hunting buck and eating several pounds of fresh meat daily. It's been very interesting being out here, but I am looking forward to returning to England again. ……" .. Once she returned to England Mrs Beynon lived first at Bournstream, Bilbrook, Washford, Somerset and then some time in the late 1920s moved to Broadoak, Sutton-at-Hone, Kent, although she then went out to Tangiers for some years.
