East Africa & Rhodesia - 20/5/54 - Mr Maurice William Ghersie, who has died suddenly in Felixstowe, Suffolk, was at one time Director of Produce Disposal for the East Africa Production and Supply Council and chairman of the East African War Supplies Board, for which services he was made OBE. For years he practised in Eldoret as an accountant. A brother of Mr Stanley Ghersie, MLC, he leaves a widow and a son.

Macmillan 1930 - Eldoret Flour Mills Ltd. - The business now carried on under the name of Eldoret Flour Mills Ltd. Was started in 1921 under the style of the Blue Rock Mill Ltd. which through successive changes in the ownership was altered first to the Eureka Flour Mills then to the Eldoret Flour Mills and finally to its present form in 1925 when the concern, which had been unfortunate in its management, was taken over by Mr M. W. Ghersi, a prominent local business man and Mr C. A. Wright long experienced in connection with general mechanics etc. Under the direction of these 2 enterprising gentlemen the undertaking became successful. Eventually Mr Ghersi sold his interest to the present company, comprising Sir Neville Pearson Bart., Messrs H.C. Bibby and A.C. Hoey with Mr Wright as Managing Director and Mr J. Skelly as Assistant Manager. The Sales Manager is Mr A. E. Wright son of Mr C. A. Wright.
