Women 3/95 - Obit. - John came to EA in 1936 to work for the Barbitons (sic) in Kitale, after working in French West Africa. Then he worked as farm manager to Alec Lindsay on his Mount Elgon farm. He was one of the very early members of the Kenya Regiment and throughout the war served with the 1st/3rd KAR. After the war he joined Bovill Matheson and worked on Central Line Sisal Estates in Tanganyika and Coffee Estates in Uganda. In the fifties he joined the Government and worked for A.L.Dev in Nandi and the Central Agricultural Board in Baning. A few years after Independence, he returned from Government and joined the Low and Bonar Group of Companies in Nairobi. He finally retired in 1981 and went to live in Malindi. He was a founder member of the Malindi Museum Society and took a great interest in the Malindi Horticultural Society. ..…
