General Information:

Golf - The Grigg Cup, our local equivalent of the "Halford Hewitt", owes its inception to W.N. Mackenzie, a "verray parfit gentle knight" and a true exponent of the motto of his old school Winchester. He was also one of the committee responsible for the formation of the Kenya Golfing Society - in company with C.N. Day, R.D. England and A.C. Tannahill. It was a great disappointment ... when ill health made  him give up golf in 1929 and he is still held in affectionate remembrance by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In his typical self-effacing way he did a lot of good work for golf which should not be forgotten. His great delight was to organise visits to Makuyu and that small private course at Kianzabe and those fortunate enough to have been included in Mac's teams will not easily forget these occasions. ..... Winner of Amateur Golf Championship of EA in 1925.
Karen 50 - W.N. Mackenzie had won the EA Golf Championship as far back as 1924 and was one of those responsible for the formation of the Kenya Golf Union in 1930, and the initiator of the Grigg Cup Competition.
