General Information:

In 1936, Major Scott had to return to the UK and he was about to close down the course [Scott's golf course] when the Browns bought the estate and Mr H.V.H. Gadsdon leased the course from them.
He built a Club House, obtained a bar license and ran the course on a green-fee basis. Anybody could play on payment of the green fee, and the place was always crowded over week-ends. Gadsdon had completed a further 9 holes when war broke out, and he had to relinquish his lease on joining the Forces. He held the course record with 65, the bogey being 72, and was practically unbeatable on his own stamping-ground.
