Web - Supplement to Edinburgh Gazette I August 1919 - T/Capt Thomas Raleigh Gibbs - For most conspicuous gallantry and initiative during the operations north of Vertain on October 23rd 1918. On reaching his objective he discovered a pocket of the enemy holding a sunken road. He rushed forward with one NCO and killed 2 of the enemy and captured 30. Six machine guns were found in the road and but for his dash and courage a dangerous situation would have arisen.
