General Information:

Police - He had served in the British SA Police in Rhodesia from 1906 to 1911, and then with the Nigeria Police from 1912 to 1931. .......... In July 1938 Cavendish, who had recently been awarded the CBE, was taken seriously ill and had to undergo an operation at the Nairobi Hospital. He made a slow but good recovery. On October 12th he went on sick leave to SA. The Deputy Commissioner, Capt. G. Pritchard Brown assumed temporary command of the Force during his absence.
