Marion Firn (daughter): He died April 1974 in Edinburgh Scotland, where he was in charge of the Scottish Paraplegic Unit. He completed his medical postings in Kenya at Kisumu in 1948. On his return from UK leave he was posted to Tanganyika - Tanga 1949-1952, and then promoted to Dar es Salaam following his next UK leave. He retired at independence from Tanganyika - where he was Senior Surgeon for Tanzania. He helped set up the Medical School in the new University of Dar es Salaam. He wrote the book Surgery pubished by Oxford University Press. It was aimed at first year medical students and medical auxilliaries in the villages and towns of East Africa who did not have the chance to be trained through the universities.
