Letter from Phil Sykes - '… Irene was a very capable farmer, keeping red poll cattle, then later sold mixed farm and bought ranch at Rumuruti.'
EA & Rhodesia - 2/1/58 - Mr Cyril Norman, manager of an estate near Rumuruti, Kenya, was found shot dead in his house last Friday night. A Kikuyu has been arrested and charged with murder. Mr Norman, who was born in 1891, went to Kenya in 1929 as a stock inspector in the Veterinary Department.
Sheardown - 3 annual murders at Christmas time - Another old friend of mine, Cyril Norman, was the victim of the next one. This took a more straightforward path in that Cyril complained, in forceful terms, about the state of the roast presented for his Christmas dinner and his cook, taking umbrage along, no doubt, with Cyril's best brandy provided for firing up the pudding, fired not the pudding but Cyril's rifle, and that straight at Cyril who was killed instantly.
