Major Lionel Gascoigne built the house on Inge farm for Captain Long in 1924. Long left the property in his will to Joyce Campbell Clause, who owned it from 1926-43, when she sold it to Chris Berryman. The house was still standing in 1979 much improved. It had a cedar shingle roof and cedar off-cut walls above a four foot high stone wall; a stone fireplace and the floors were wooden. The wind whistled through the gaps in the off-cut walls.
