Naivasha - 1910 - Another arrival was Dr Dunn who came on a shooting trip and was so impressed with the country that he took up land on the North Kinangop. His brother joined him and they bought more land on the North end of the lake where they built a house. War intervened and Dr Dunn did not return until 1922 when he had an enormous practice helping both Europeans and Africans
Naivasha - Naivasha Yacht Club - The earliest records indicate that in 1924 to 1928 the late William Dunn regularly used an 18 ft. sailing boat fitted with a "Clyde Lug". Adventures with hippo were not infrequent.
Childhood - Bill Hillyar - "My father, Charles Hillyar, came from Devon to Kenya in 1924 to work for the Dunn brothers, one of whom was a retired architect and the other a retired doctor who still practised medicine locally. The Dunns owned Barterholm Farm on the north side of Lake Naivasha and needed a young man to assist them."
