mini-Sitrep XXIII - educated as a day boy in Grigg House at the Prince of Wales School from 1934-39. On leaving school in 1939, John volunteered for the Kenya Regiment, serving in Burma for 3 years on secondment to the Nyasaland Battalion of the KAR. John married Joy Felton in 1942 and after the War, with their 3 children, Ann, Ian and David became prominent and popular members of the Old Cambrians Club (later to become Impala), excelling in tennis and hockey. John took up his career in Accountancy in East Africa, firstly with the KUR&H and later with the Inland Revenue Dept. With Kenya's independence, like many, came the move to Adelaide, South Australia in 1965 where the family settled, and where John worked in a large accounting firm prior to his retirement. ……
