General Information:

Moyse - 1897 ... 27th Bombay Infantry had been detailed for service in Africa and left Karachi on 2nd Dec. with 12 officers & 737 troops under the command of Lt.-Col. W.A. Broome. As senior officer it was intended that he should take command of all troops in the Protectorate. Broome didn't reach Kampala until 26th July 1898
North - OC Indian Contingent in Uganda during Sudanese mutiny, arr. Mombasa with troops 12/12/1897; arr. Kampala 26/6/1898; Indian troops withdrawn from Uganda March 1899 and sent to Kismayu. "A man of small tact" (Martyr)
North - Tried to assume command of all troops in Uganda but his orders were ignored by Col. C. Martyr, arr. Kampala 26-6-1898; the EAP administration requested that he did not send troops from Uganda to the coast in one large caravan because of severe famine en route. He refused and over 400 porters died.
Tucker - May 1898 - chasing remaining mutineers.
