East Africa & Rhodesia - 14/1/54 - Mr Eric Baumann, who has become chairman and managing director of Messrs A. Baumann & Company (East Africa) Ltd., joined the family firm after leaving Cambridge University, was made a partner in 1931 and became managing director when the business was registered as a limited liability company in 1948. He has served in the Nairobi, Mombasa, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam branches, has sat on the boards of the subsidiary companies, and has played an active part in various chambers of commerce. For the last two years of the last war he was chief representative in East Africa of the United Kingdom Commercial Corporation.
