Gazette - 1/7/1906 - Obituary - Captain Fletcher was appointed to the Uganda Rifles on 10 August 1898 and on arrival at Mombasa was placed in command of the Military Depot. When the Mombasa Depot was closed for recruiting purposes Capt. Fletcher was given command of the troops at Nimule in the Nile Province. Early in May he was transferred to Hoima and soon afterwards contracted Blackwater Fever. Captain Fletcher did excellent work in Uganda and his death is sincerely regretted by all his Civil and Military colleagues. Died at Hoima on 24 May 1906.
