General Information:

Kiambu Scrapbook - The main Nairobi-Kiambu road leads to the northern ridge, which was the original nucleus of the township, and runs to Upper Kiambu through the main "shopping centre". This consisted in 1935 of one shop only, the Kyambu Stores, a wood and iron building on piles with a little garden in front of it and creepers growing up the verandah. The stores were kept by a Mr & Mrs Bradley, Mr Bradley being a keen golfer in spite of only having one leg (he lost the other in the 1914 war) and used to hand his crutches to his caddie while he balanced himself on this one leg for a perfect swing.
