Carnelley - Naivasha - Lastly, comes Gorge Farm, now Fisherman's Camp and, although it is now only 50 acres, originally when my father {Stephen Carnelley} first bought it in 1930 for £700 it was nearly 6,000 stretching right back including half of Hell's Gate as far as Central Tower. It was bought off a man called Crundell, who distinguished himself by shooting dead his houseboy when he was making off with his briefcase. For this he did a stretch of 2 years in Fort Jesus and afterwards deported to England. The house then, one of the first in Naivasha, consisted of three small rooms built of adobe with 18" thick walls a corrugated iron tin roof and with ceilings of papyrus mats on magnificent bamboo poles. All still standing after more than 85 years or so.
Carnelley - He was according to Stephen Carnelley the Mayor of Birmingham's son [actually, Dover]
