Habari 18 - 'In 1962 Mrs Gillett collected details regarding many of the Pioneers of EA for the European Pioneer's Society, and, with the permission of the librarian of Rhodes House where the records are now held, she has recently revised them. Mrs Gillett is approaching 80 years of age, has poor eyesight and is crippled by arthritis, but her mind is keen and alert and, despite constant pain, she is really great fun. The index was published as a tribute to all that Mrs Gillett and her husband had done for the young in Kenya. It is important to emphasise that it does not pretend to mention ALL Pioneers, and some details may not be correct - but any corrections will be accepted with grateful thanks.' Sitrep 2 - Mary was awarded a medal for her services in the Kenya Police Airwing at their HQ in Nairobi.
Rev. Gillett retired from Government Service in 1952, and for ten years, from 1956, was Chaplain of the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall. Retired to live in Falmouth.
