Macmillan 1930 - The Hygienic Butchery Ltd. - Eldoret - Mr J. Fisher founder of the business …. Which is operated  on the utmost possible hygienic lines. The front shop is nicely appointed with modern fittings, the counters having white Kenya marble tops. Behind it is another shop reserved enhtirely for native trade. The meat undergoes  Government inspection every morning before it is sold and an idea of the business transacted may be gathered by the fact that about 60 animals are killed monthly at the firm's abattoir about 3 miles from the town. The Hygienic Butchery Ltd. Supplies also all kinds of Kenya vegetables, fruits and dairy produce. Mr J. Fisher hails  from Weston-super-Mare and was trained in his trade with Messrs Eastmans Ltd who have establishments throughout England. After serving for some time with one of the Eldoret firms he started business on his own account in 1926 and soon afterwards formed the company of which he is managing director.
