Web - He was the eldest son of Lt Colonel Alexander. Lieutenant Boyd Alexander was an explorer and ornithologist. He was a member of an expedition which travelled across Africa from the Niger to the Nile exploring Lake Chad in 1904. He later returned to Africa and was killed in a dispute with locals near Nyeri, Central Kenya on 3rd April 1910. He was 37.
N York Times 14 Aug 1910 says he was killed by natives in Wadai, Central Africa and was buried with his bro Claud at Maifoni, near Lake Chad (extract in Ancestry)

Nat Probate Calendar says he d. near Abeshr Dar Fur Africa 2 Apr 1910 [but the report (in French) from the Oficer in Chad says he was killed by men of Ali Dinar, Sultan of Darfur at Ilarné village, 1 km. from Nyeri and was taken to Mombasa.]
