General Information:

Quote from Mrs C.M.G. Wilson - Tom Allen was shooting monkeys on the river near the factory - they played havoc in the vegetable garden - Archie Campbell and the field Head-man were in the cane nursery near by - luckily - for the African Head man heard a faint call for help on the river. He and Mr Campbell rushed towards the sound, a hungry python had struck Tom Allen fixing its teeth in his knee and was slowly wrapping its coils round him. The fright had caused him to drop the shot-gun in the river, so the Head-man hacked the python off with his panga. Mr Allen (known as 'T.A.') was in terrible shock and lost his voice for many weeks, his kneee was damaged, but not too seriously.   Source: Mrs C.M.G. Wilson
