Cheri Marshall (great-granddaughter): My great-grandmother was Rose MOORE born in Belfast 1881. Her father James Moore had come to South Africa with his wife Sarah Maginn and two girls. They settled near a small town in South Africa called Kokstad and the two additional children, Thomas and Lawrence Patrick, were baptised there in the Catholic church. Lawrence Patrick was a trader in the eastern Cape and at some stage Thomas had moved to Kenya to trade. Thomas and the siblings were put into care under a Catholic priest when Thomas was very small as their mother had died so all the children were left in Catholic care for a time while their father married a second wife.
