EAS Apr 3 May 1939 He came to Africa in 1901 when at the age of 27 he went to the South African War as a trooper in the British South African police. He was with the force for 10 years and then spent two years with the Eldorado Mining Company and was so engaged up to the outbreak of the war in 1914. Rejoining the South African police he was dispatched up the Zambezi and later served with the 2nd Rhodesian Regiment, with whom he came to Tanganyika in 1915 in the East African campaign. He was invalided with Blackwater fever from Morogoro. Mr Scott was sent to Nairobi and was later employed in mining. Much of the remainder of his life was spent in prospecting in Tanganyika. For 22 years he had been in Kenya and Tanganyika and East Africa had become his home.
