Joy Nicoll, 'Meet the Isherwoods', EAS 30 Sep 1955 On arrival the family lived first of all in big tents. He founded the firm of J.D. Isherwood which later became Isherwood's Ltd. He built two houses in Hurlingham Road on a 10 acre plot. Keen on dogs and brought with him a great dane which was the first of the breed in East Africa. He decided to retire to England and took with him Betty who married and came out to Uganda where she remained for many years before settling down near the family in Nairobi. The sons now took over the reins of the business, married and settled down in the colony.
