East African Standard 8 Jan 1906 Mr Baldari of the Societa Coloniale Italiana is retiring from the company, He is a director of the company in Equatorial Africa and was the first representative in this country. He came out many years ago and opened up business for the company, which has developed by leaps and bounds, and which now owns many branches throughout East Africa and Uganda. He was the first who started the Uganda rubber industry, by obtaining a concession from the British government, and he was also the pioneer who floated commercial enterprises around like Lake Victoria. The first important caravan to Uganda was undertaken by Mr Baldari come in company with Messrs Bienfield and Co which lasted over 10 months. He also directed the military transport. He was always ready to sacrifice his health and comfort for the benefit of his company, and on many occasions he has been through diverse dangers.
