Terence Gavaghan, Of Lions and Dungbeetles, 1999 In 1957 was in charge of Uthaya Division, Nyeri. He was the younger and much smaller brother of the ruddy, robust Tony. He was risk, astute, efficient and a stickler for discipline, not least in the conduct of Othaya Detainee reception centre, through which were filtered hundreds of detainees, who had been deemed fit to return home from the main detention camps after rehabilitation. He was later under the scrutiny of the CID in connection with allegations of mistreatment and detainees.
