Red 22 - E. Melmaridis, Planter, Moshi, TT
In early 1900s goods for Moshi went by rail travel to Voi. Maimaridis started transport by ox wagon from Voi to Moshi (90 miles), but they could not haul heavy loads. M. bought a steam traction engine for the job. The machine was called tinga-tinga. But the machine was too heavy and got stuck in the sand or mud, and smashed primitive bridges crossing streams. The plan was abandoned in 1908.
