Nancy ran a riding school at Como estate. 250 acres of coffee and cattle, and later, pineapples. Started Thika Pony Club in 1960s.
Women in Kenya, no 1, 1994 After his marriage he moved to Kampala for 2 years working on the Bovill Matheson Tea Estate at Saleme. From 1951 they lived at Nandi Hills for 6 years and in 1956 went to Thika and coffee farming. In 1958 when his parents died within six weeks of each other, they inherited his father's farm 'Como'. There they had 15 great years with tea, coffee, cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, geese and a riding school with 25 horses. This farm was sold in 1972 and the whole herd of dairy cattle bought a new car. He then spent four years working for Tom Gregory on Como Coffee Estate, which was sold in 1976. He had various jobs in Nairobi and about five years ago retired. Nancy was important in the East Africa Women's League where she served as Deputy Vice-President for eight years.
