Obituary in East African Standard 6 July 1929 He rendered good service when the only tunnel on the Kenya and Uganda Railway was being constructed, and during the Great War he was station master at Voi from 1914 to 1917 and rendered invaluable service to the military. For this he received letters of appreciation from several officers. In 1918 owing to ill health he was invalided from the service but rejoined in 1920 and was posted to Makindu. In June 1926 having reached the age limit he retired from the service and settled at Makindu. During his service on the railway he was well known to the public and was liked by all.
