Leader14 - 1913 - Towards the end of January a European named Grobelaar murdered his wife at Nakuru.
Leader14 - 1913 - On July 11 Grobelaar, who had been found guilty of murdering his wife at Nakuru, was executed at the Nairobi Gaol. This was the first instance of a European suffering the extreme penalty in British East Africa.

East African Standard 26 Apr 1913 Wife had been living with her father in Nakuru for 2 months. She picked up her bro Jan Joubert from Nakuru Scholl and was walking along the Solai road when her husband rode up on a bike and asked her to return to him. She refused and he shot her 6 times, then shot himself in the jaw. He rode to Joubert's farm and said he had been shot by Heppes. The jury found him guilty but made a recommendation of mercy, but he was sentenced to death.
His wife died 48 hours after the shooting.
