Died while on a visit to Mombasa.
Was sent to the front in Crimea and served through the siege. Wounded and 2 medals. Then to Sydney, NSW with his regiment. Then to Calcutta to clear the Grand Trunk Road of rebel bands. Retired from army 1872 and in 1874 was put in charge of the prison at Kirkdale. Later to Stafford prison.
